FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have a different question, drop me an email at scnewbound@gmail.com

DO YOU ACCEPT RETURNS?

If you are not happy with your purchase I would always want you to contact me to discuss the issue. On most items I will accept returns within 30 days of purchasing for a full refund (minus P&P). Please note there will be a small deduction if returning earrings that have been worn.

IS YOUR JEWELLERY HALLMARKED?

I am registered at the London Assay Office and conform to the Hallmarking standard. My maker's mark is an arrow with the initials SCN. This means that all items above the exemption rates will be hallmarked. This is above 1gram for gold and 7.78grams for silver. More information can be found here. Please ask if you have any questions.

DO YOU OFFER ENGRAVING ON YOUR DESIGNS?

No, it is not a skill I possess (yet!) I can stamp dates or short words on to some of my designs or create a piece that is bespoke for you so you can get it engraved by a professional engraver. Drop me an email if you would like to discuss further.

CAN YOU MAKE SOMETHING USING SEA GLASS (OR OTHER MATERIALS) I HAVE FOUND?

It depends. The best way to find out is to send me a few pictures of the sea glass or other material and I can advise. Usually you would be looking for a piece of sea glass that is relatively smooth, without any jagged edges to get a nice setting. And if it isn't something I can do I can let you know about other jewellery makers who might be able to help.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO TAKE CARE OF MY JEWELLERY?

Try not to wear your jewellery all the time. Make it the last thing you put on after getting ready - even after you have put perfume on, as the chemicals in toiletries and make-up can make it tarnish more quickly. Do try to take it off for swimming too, although I am not always very good at this.  Store your jewellery out of sunlight.

To clean your jewellery the best option is to use a polish meant for the metal type. Town talk have a good selection. Alternatively you can use an old toothbrush and some warm water with washing up liquid or bicarbonate of soda if it is really tarnished.

HOW DO I FIND OUT MY RING SIZE?

The simplest way is to buy a ring sizer (try The Curious Gem) or pop in to your local jewellers.

If that isn't an option, you can use a piece of string, wrap it tight-ish around your chosen finger and then measure the length that wraps around your finger once. This isn't as accurate but it isn't too far off either.

HOW DO YOU USE MY INFORMATION?

I will only use the information you provide to me to process your order and to send your order to you. I do not pass your details on to anyone else and I do not use them for any other purpose.
